Elmer Carl Pfluger, 79, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, peacefully from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of His Lord. He was born Wednesday, July 29, 1931, in Aurora, Ind., son of the late Elmer and Sarah Pfluger. He is survived by his son, Randall (wife Jamie) Pfluger, 1313 Edgewood Ct, Carrollton, TX 75007; two grandchildren, Heather Pfluger, and Brandon Pfluger; brother, Charles (wife Elinor) Pfluger; sister, Mary Colen, and several nieces and nephews. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He learned the electrical trade while supporting army logistics in France, and spent over 20 years as an electrician for Seagram's before retiring in 1992. He graduated from Aurora High School and spent the remainder of his life in Lawrenceburg. He loved working with numbers, being with his family, and watching after his grandchildren. He was a tower of strength that will never be forgotten and his strong sense of duty and honor will forever be with us. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Greendale, Ind. Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at 1p.m. with the Rev. David Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Ind. Contributions may be made to the Beecher Presbyterian Church, 229 Short St., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025. |

Melanie Louise Dudash, 64, of Moneta, Va., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at her residence. Born Monday, Feb. 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Cory Virgil Christian and Helen J. DeLarbre Christian. She was a member of The Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 1951 Smith Mountain Lake who will miss her dearly. She enjoyed spending time at her log cabin with her loved animals. In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Dudash. Melanie is survived by one son, Andrew Ross, and his wife, Tatiana, of Temecula, Calif.; one daughter, Jeanine Lynn Goss, of Munich, Germany; two grandsons and one granddaughter. Memorial contributations may be made to the Humane Society of Amherst, P.O. Box 614, Amherst, VA 24521 A celebration of Melanie's life will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Chapel. Steve Bartley, 59, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. He was born Thursday, Aug. 31, 1950, in Owensboro, Ky., son of the late William Bartley and Betty (Cox) Bartley. He was a member of the Lawrenceburg Lions Club, Sons of the American Legion, and Local Pipefitters Union 392. He worked as the maintenance director for the Lawrenceburg School Corporation. He is survived by his mother Betty Bartley; loving wife, Brenda Bartley; son, Andrew Bartley; daughter, Angie (husband Dean) Wilson; two brothers, Mark Bartley, and Chris Bartley; sister, Anna Daily; 3 grandchildren, Evan Wilson, Reagan Wilson, and Blake Bartley; mother-in-law Norma Cantrell; brother-in-law, Tim Schultz; sister-in-law, Linda Schultz; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William Bartley, and his brother, David Bartley. Friends will be received Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Greendale, Ind. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Peter Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Ind. Contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence Church or Ohio County Rescue Unit. |

Colten Gage Hansell, infant son of Christopher and Kara (Ballard) Hansell of Lawrenceburg, Ind., entered and left this world Monday, Aug. 23, at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, Ind. In addition to his parents, Colten is survived by a brother, Cory Hansell, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; grandparents, Melvin and Jennifer Ballard, Moores Hill, Ind., and Mark and Joyce Hansell, Lawrenceburg; great-grandparents, Glendal and Nancy Stork, Evansville, Ind., Garnett Reamer, Aurora, and Paul and Sharon Ballard, Florence, Ind.; aunt, Anna Ballard, Moores Hill, and an uncle, Cody Hansell, Lawrenceburg. Funeral service at Markland Funeral Home, Rising Sun, was held Sunday, Aug. 28, with the Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Friends were to call Saturday at Markland Funeral Home. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to the family. |

Charles Ray Southerland, 85, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at his home. He was born Saturday, Sept. 13, 1924, in Wheatcroft, Ky., son of the late Bourner Ray and Ova Ray (Baird) Southerland. He served his country in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he returned home and graduated from the University of Kentucky. He passed the CPA boards and was employed by the Internal Revenue Service doing auditing work. Following the work for the IRS, Charlie set up a private practice in the Covington, Ky., area where he served clients for over 50 years. Charlie enjoyed playing golf and bridge and was an avid baseball and football fan. He was a life member of the Covington-Kenton County Jaycees and a member of the Kentucky Society of CPA's. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary (Kumpe) Southerland; several cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Libbey Southerland. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the Dearborn County Hospice. |
